We’re excited to introduce a new feature to the EnergieTakt Karte: the Aggregated View! In addition to hourly data, the dashboard now provides daily, monthly, and yearly aggregations for each region. The aggregations are calculated in UTC rather than in local time zones, ensuring consistent aggregation periods across all regions.

Aggregated data provides valuable insights beyond what hourly data alone can offer. With daily, monthly, and yearly summaries, one can easily review seasonal and annual fluctuations in generation patterns. Furthermore, long-term trends, such as the shift toward lower-emission electricity from renewable sources, are readily observable with this new view.

Each day between 6:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. (UTC), the dashboard updates the latest daily, monthly, and yearly aggregations, ensuring up-to-date, comprehensive data for a deeper understanding of the evolving energy landscape.

Handling Data Gaps in Aggregations

In the aggregation process, we account for gaps in the hourly data across three categories: completely missing data (where either generation or load data is unreported for a given region), partially missing data (e.g., when data from a subregion or an expected generation type is not reported), and complete data. Both complete and partially missing hours are included in the aggregation calculations, while hours where either generation or load data is missing are excluded to prevent skewed results.

Additionally, we calculate the percentage of the aggregation period (daily, monthly, or yearly) that is incomplete, encompassing both fully missing and partially missing hours. This percentage is displayed on the dashboard to provide transparency into the data quality for each aggregation period.
